The Dubois County Bombers are a summer collegiate baseball team based in Huntingburg, Indiana. They offer contemporary, wooden-bat baseball in a throwback setting. Prior to the 2014 season, they wanted a new website design to match their existing branding materials.
Project Goal: A Website Design They Can Maintain
The Bombers wanted their staff to be able to update the main content of the site themselves. I built the site using WordPress, a CMS with a visual editor like Microsoft Word.
With WordPress at their disposal, they have been posting game recaps and making text changes themselves. As a result, their maintenance costs are lower.
Most Challenging Aspect
The Bombers throwback setting for the games is one of the main draws to get fans into the stadium. All of their marketing materials have a similar look and feel.
Giving the website a vintage look, but still making it modern and easy to use was the biggest challenge. To do this, I used a parchment paper background and sepia toned images to show age on the site.
Customer Feedback
Mary Uebelhor was my primary contact on the project. She relayed the following message:
Josh at Ideafusion Media was very easy to work with as we developed a new website for the Dubois County Bombers. With a limited budget, limited personnel and limited experience with building websites, we asked a lot of Josh to develop not only an easy-to-maneuver website, but one that has the look & feel of the Bombers experience. We are happy with the result and look forward to working with him as our website continues to evolve.
