Twitter is a very powerful social networking tool that is gaining popularity exponentially and shows no signs of slowing down any time soon. So, how can you use it to your advantage on a website? Check out the rest after the jump.
This is just one simple way that you may not have thought of. A client had a site whose content on their site wasn’t going to change much, but they wanted the ability to get their message out to the site’s visitors. This particular client is a mayor candidate, so giving him the ability to reach potential voters while campaigning is a valuable asset. So, we installed the Twitter client on their smart phone, signed them up for an account, and used the Profile Widget to display their most recent tweets on the site.
In this case, the client had a Facebook page for his campaign set up, so using RSS Graffiti allowed him to quickly get the updates posted to his Facebook page wall at the same time, which essentially allows him to get updates to anyone following his campaign online by spending just a few seconds sending out a tweet from his phone. You could just as easily use the Twitter website to post the updates if you don’t have a smart phone. So having one isn’t necessary, but is more convenient in some cases.
Obviously you’re not limited to using Twitter’s widget to display the updates, but I found the ease of getting it set up to be the right solution for this particular client. You’ll appreciate this if you aren’t a web designer, but would like to try to use this technique on your website. If you don’t feel comfortable attempting this on your own, please feel free to use the contact form to get in touch with us and we’ll be more than happy to help you set this solution up on your site.
